Downspout flushing: how to book it and check it
Some quotes cover the horizontal trough only. Find out early whether the vertical drains are part of the deal.

Confirm it is in the scope
A quote that says gutter cleaning might or might not include running water through each downspout. Write the question into your request: does the visit include a flow test at every outlet? A provider who tests as part of the job will usually say so right away.
If you prefer a stand-alone flush, say that too. Some homeowners with newly cleaned troughs only need the drains opened, and a provider can price that separately.
How you can tell it worked
Stand outside during or just after the test. Water should leave the bottom of each downspout in a steady stream, at about the rate it enters at the top. A trickle, a burp of air or water seeping from a seam signals a partial plug.
Ask where the water goes after it exits. Splash blocks, extensions and buried connections each behave differently, and your provider can explain which one you have. If a buried line is slow, it is worth knowing before the rainy season starts.
Lakefront and low-lying properties
Maitland has 21 lakes, and many homes sit close to one. If yours is lakefront, mention it in the request. Discharge points near a shoreline or seawall can call for a different approach than a suburban lot, and a provider who knows the area may already be familiar with how neighboring properties drain.
Street drains are not part of a roof job. For a blocked inlet at the curb, the county takes stormwater reports. Keep that separate from the quote you are collecting for the house.
